Cheap storage benches for entryways

Cheap storage benches covers lift-lid trunks, cubby benches with baskets and shoe-rack designs. These pieces add seating and hidden space to entryways, mudrooms and the foot of the bed, a smart fix when boots, blankets and backpacks keep piling up.

Cheap storage benches: what to check on seat strength and storage

• Check the seat's weight limit, since light frames can flex when two adults sit down together.
• Lift-up lids should have slow-close hinges or lid supports so they cannot slam shut on small fingers.
• Open cubbies hold shoes and baskets for daily grabbing, while lidded trunks hide blankets and toys.
• Measure the bench against your entryway, bed foot or window nook, leaving room to open the lid fully.

Which suits you: Busy entryways do well with benches with open cubbies for shoes, while bedrooms and window seats often call for upholstered lift-lid trunks that hide linens.
