Cheap smartphones from entry-level to flagship

Cheap smartphones, including unlocked handsets, prepaid phones and renewed models, sit together on this page. Budget options and camera-focused flagships are both covered, which helps first-time phone buyers, parents shopping for a teen and anyone upgrading an aging device.

Cheap smartphones: what to check before switching

• Smartphones must support your carrier's network bands, so confirm the phone is unlocked or set up for your specific carrier.
• Older smartphone releases may have fewer updates left, so check how many years of operating system and security updates remain.
• Storage in gigabytes fills quickly with apps and photos, so check the amount and whether a microSD slot is included.
• Renewed or refurbished smartphones should come with stated battery health, warranty length and return window before you commit.

Which suits you: Light users who mainly text and browse prefer budget phones with long update support, while heavy photographers and mobile gamers benefit from more storage and faster processors.
