Cheap football gear for the field

Gearing up for the season with cheap football gear like helmets, shoulder pads, cleats, gloves and balls? Flag football sets for younger players are listed too, which makes this page useful for youth league parents and adult rec teams alike.

Cheap football gear: sizing pads, helmets and cleats

• Helmets should be fitted to head circumference by a coach or trained fitter, and leagues often require specific certification labels.
• Shoulder pads are sized by chest and shoulder width, and the cut should suit the player's position.
• Some youth leagues ban detachable metal studs, so confirm cleat rules with your league before buying.
• Mouthguards, gloves and padded girdles complete a kit, so compare bundles with your league's required equipment list.

Which suits you: Youth flag players usually need only cleats, a mouthguard and flags, while tackle players require helmets, shoulder pads and padded pants fitted to size.
